Mosquito Angels Settle for Silver
Both the Mosquito A and AAA Angels were playing for Gold in the Finals at Cloverdale’s Boulanger Tournament but both had to settle for Silver. The AAA team went into the Final unbeaten through pool play and victors over Chilliwack in the Semis. They couldn’t get their bats going against Cloverdale and came out 2nd best.
In the single A division, the Angels came second in their pool after wins over Kamloops and Nanaimo and a loss to Campbell River. In the Semis they faced a previously unbeaten Cloverdale squad. The Angels put together their most complete effort of the young season to defeat the Spurs and book a rematch with the Tyees. Unfortunately the results against Campbell River were the same, and the boys had to reluctantly accept the Runners Up trophies.
In Mosquito AAA Tier 2, the Angels also made it to the Semis, but fell to the eventual champions from Aldergrove. The AAHA also had teams in the Bantam AA and Peewee AA divisions of the tournament.
In the end these weren’t the results everyone was hoping for, but nevertheless much was learned that will help the Angels going forward into the summer season. The weather was great, supporters were treated to some good baseball, and much fun was had by our young ball players. Thanks to the hosts, Cloverdale Minor Baseball, who once again put on an excellent Boulanger Tournament.
