Angels Improve
Abbotsford Angels 11
Cloverdale Spurs 1
Mosquito A
The Mosquito “A” Angels played their best game of the season so far, in a place it is always good to bring your best game, Cloverdale Ball Park. Solid pitching and defence shut down the Cloverdale offense. The Angels were led by dominant pitching from Jimmy Boulanger, who shutout the spurs in 4 innings of work, giving up zero walks, one hit, and striking out three. Notable defensive efforts came from Matti Meleg, Sammy Friess and Tyson Dyck. At bat the Angels got contributions from throughout the order, including doubles from Matti and Tyson. Ronan Sexton and Kian Dobson were both 3 for 3 at the plate.
The win was welcome relief after a disappointing effort the night before in Chilliwack. In that game the boys put in their worst performance of the year. The boys also had mixed results in Kelowna’s Valley of Champions Tournament, collecting wins over Cloverdale and Penticton, but losing to the Surrey Canadians and a strong Victoria Eagles squad. Victoria looks to be one of the teams to beat, playing at home in the Provincials at the end of the month.
This week’s results on the road put the Angels at 4-1 in provincial qualifying play. The team now looks forward to three home games in the coming week, starting Saturday with the back half of a home and home with Cloverdale. First pitch is 3:00. Come on down to Lions Park and support your Abbotsford Angels!
