The Mayor Takes in a Ball Game
While the Astros and the Royals competed on the diamond, one of our city’s more prominent baseball supporters came by to check out the action at Lions Park.
Thanks to Mayor Henry Braun for coming down to our Mosquito fields to check out some of our city’s young baseball talent. The Astros and Royals put on a great show for him, displaying some wonderful baseball on Lions Park.
Before he left, the Mayor agreed to stop for a picture, and both teams gathered around. It was a great moment that demonstrates the need for all of us to work to together to build the game in our community.
The Mayor discovered he had a remarkable number of personal connections with players and parents at the park, including grand-nephew Kason Siguenza of the Royals. Mayor Braun was also able to connect with Cian Sexton of the Astros. Earlier in the year Cian had written to the Mayor to discuss baseball and the state of our baseball parks in Abbotsford. Credit to the Mayor, who wrote back to Cian with a thoughtful response, and came out to the ballpark at the first invitation to check out an Astros game at Lions!
