Pirates Take Two in Cold April “Double-Dreader”

It was the mightiest of tests…who can stand the 6 hours of cold, pounding and relentless wind…the discipline to stay focused while the hours, minutes and seconds slowly ticked by…pitch by pitch. Yes folks, the parents had it tough out there on Saturday, but they persevered. Now about the kids – they too had it tough!
Indeed, the Braves and Pirates squared off on Saturday at Lions park under chilly conditions. The Braves, contending for medal of honor recipients – with broken, bandaged, and MIA players, gave it their best effort in both games – requiring the Pirates to pull of some late game magic for victories.
Game 2 saw the most drama unfold and likely led to premature graying of hair by all coaching staff. With the Braves down 4 runs going into the last inning, they scored 7 to take a 3 run lead. The pirates needed to chip the ice blocks off themselves and respond – and they did just that. Evan Booker knocked in two runs and Matthew Sevensma drove in the winning run for a walk-off victory.
As an aside, under tight budgetary conditions, the Braves, Lockhart MacGregor made no friends in the League Equipment department by single-handedly ripping the cover off of several game balls!
