Mayday! Mayday!  Pirates sink Blue Jays!

In a near capacity crowd,  the Pirates and the Blue Jays squared off on Friday night for a makeup game at Lions park. It was coach Jeanie Ashton bobble head night at the park as the first 10,000 fans received the limited edition keepsake.

The Pirates started strong with an outburst of offense gaining an early lead in the game. In an unusual twist of communication, most Pirate base runners seemed to listen to the coaches steal signals – a truly unfathomable feat!

The risk of a breakout loomed large as the Blue Jays power hitters Bucknam and Smith hit triples in the middle innings.  Nick Magnum battled hard in his best outing of the year striking out 2 Jays in the 3rd.  With the bases loaded, Maguire Wakelyn came in relief for the Pirates and struck out 7 of the next 8 batters to finish off the game.

Players of the game for the Pirates were Jazzi Ashton and Maguire Wakelyn.
