Whilst the Historians have yet to unearth a story of ship laden Pirates battling a land-bound First-Nations Tribe, an historic night was in the makings Tuesday night! Indeed the Pirates and the Braves waged a great competitive playoff battle at the Plains of Grant.
Both teams came prepared for an all out combat, wielding weapons made of metal tubes and shields of animal hide. Inspired by their leader, Chief Nivins, the Braves put up a solid and courageous battle starting the match with a 4-run tap-out. In a mark of great relentlessness, the Pirates stormed back with 4 of their own and never looked back – scoring 9 more in the skirmish. Quartermaster Ashton and Boatswain Mangum were particularly happy with the baserunning prowess of their Pirates. In the end, the Pirates made the Braves walk the plank: Pirates 13, Braves 7.
