Pirates 19
Red Sox 16
It was Steve Pruden bobble-head night at Lions Park on Wednesday evening – the first 300 fans all took home the special keepsake honoring the great Red Sox Coach. The commemoration unfortunately only lasted so long as the Pirates made Steve’s own head bobble as they unleashed a relentless barrage of offense. Highlighting the slug-fest was Evan Booker, who pounded out several clutch missiles with great contributions by several of our first years – Matthew Sevensma, Gabe Rogalsky, and Nate Thurmer. Landon Wakelyn also took issue with the outdated All-Star 2011 sign in center field as his deep drive attempted to disbar it from its moorings. The feisty Red Sox always had an answer – scoring 16 runs themselves with hard hits, forcing the Pirates to well, err, watch their great hits!
In the end, the Pirates bats came to the rescue with a 7 run 6th to eventually win the game.
