Peewee Abby Cup
Monday night was the final game of the Abbotsford Pee Wee house league, with the Abbotsford A’s playing the Abbotsford Braves for the Pee Wee Abby Cup. Having split their two previous games, the Abby Cup final promised to be a close game for the close to 500 spectators who packed McMillan Park as it was also Darcy Wakelyn bobble head night. The Braves were without Coach Darryl Kropp, so Coach Luc Gosselin summoned former Pee Wee player AJ Krahn to help him run the team.
The Braves started their ace Jackson Krahn, but he was no match for the A’s bats, as they scored 12 runs over the first 3 innings off Jackson and 2 other Braves pitchers. Coach Nivins and the A’s started Tait Lee on the mound, and he delivered a strong performance holding the Braves to just 4 runs over 4 innings. Levi St. Jean took over and after the Braves scored 4 more runs to close the gap, the A’s summoned Kyle Alexander to shut down the awakened Braves bats. Kyle held them to just 1 run over 1 2/3 innings, clinching the Abby Cup championship for the A’s by a 12-9 score.
The A’s were led by Levi, Tait and Craig Mitchell-Hermann who scored 2 runs each, while Zach Gosselin and Ben Wilkinson led the Braves with 2 runs scored.
The fans were treated to a great game to finish the Pee Wee season, and a great souvenir bobble head to take home!
