Peewee AA Take Silver in Kelowna
The Peewee AA Angels travelled to Kelowna last weekend for the annual Valley of Champions Tournament. The weekend in the Okanagan is a great opportunity for team building, summer fun and experience playing tournament baseball in hot summer conditions. The boys had great fun off the field, and good results on the field as well. Through pool play the team went undefeated, beating Sherwood Park (Alberta), West Kelowna and Kamloops, while they tied the powerhouse Burnaby Braves. On Sunday, the hottest day of the weekend, the boys took on Vernon in the semifinals and prevailed 6-2. The final then featured a rematch with the Braves. The Burnaby boys are big and use their size to great advantage at the plate, pounding the ball and punishing pitching that may only be slightly off. The Angels battled but Burnaby were better that afternoon, winning 10-3. The Angels went home with a silver medal, not what they wanted, but the rewards of the weekend were far more important than the colour of the medal.
