O’s Over C’s
The Orioles extended their winning streak in Tadpole 2 with a convincing 18-12 victory over the Canadians. Things started slowly for the Orioles as the batters struggled to solve the Canadians’ pitchers, including the good mix from the arm of Chase Coleman. Ricki Murchie took to the hill for the first time and got the O’s off to a good start. Trey Gairdner took it from there and was dominant in his second pitching appearance of the season. That seemed to kickstart the Orioles on the bats as well, as O’s hitters started to drive the ball and generate runs and a commanding lead. Ronan Sexton and Logan Clark led the way at the plate, including Triples from both. Fortunately for the Orioles the lead was large heading into the bottom of the open 6th inning, as the Canadians began to storm back. They put 8 runs in past a suddenly floundering Orioles defense. In the end the hole was simply too big for the Canadians to climb out of and the comeback fell short, but credit to them for a committed effort all the way to the final out.
Another highlight of the night came away from the diamond, as a group of kids put on a BBQ Fundraiser with proceeds going towards the Run For Water. WIth the help of hungry fans from both teams, the kids were able to raise $140 to help with clean water projects for the people of Ethiopia! Well done!
