Nats Down Dodgers
Mosquito
Nationals 8
Dodgers 5
The rains held off as the Nationals and Dodgers played their second and last regular season game against each other at Lions Park on Wednesday night. This was a highly anticipated re-match as the first game in the series, on April 9th, ended in a 9-9 draw. This night saw the Nationals winning 8 – 5.
The Dodgers came out swinging in the Top of the 1st and were able to score 2 runs on several well placed hits. The Nats countered with some great hitting in the bottom of the first with a couple of long line drives by Jack Taylor and Tait Lee to take the control of the score board. First year Nationals pitchers Trey Gairdner and Koben Bath combined for three innings of pitching allowing only 5 runs on 5 hits, while walking only 4 batters and striking out 5. The Dodgers middle reliever, Tyson Dyck, had a great showing on the mound. He had great command of his pitches and controlled the National batters, allowing only a few hits and very few walks. Jack Neill stepped in as the closer and was throwing heat with control. The Nationals batters were able to sneak in a few hits. A well-placed Ryan Sullivan, Brayden Lode and Jaxon Brar proved to be the difference in the end.
The Nationals countered with pitching in the middle innings by placing Jack Taylor on the bump. Taylor was able to pitch with his usual gusto, striking out 7 Dodgers, allowing 1 hit and 2 walks before stepping aside for Tait Lee to close the door in the top of the sixth. As a note, the 8 runs scored by the Nationals were provided by 8 different players.
