Mosquito All-Star Saturday another Hit
On Saturday, May 23, over 500 people came out to Lions Park for a celebration of the skills and passion of our Mosquito 10U and 11U baseball players in Abbotsford. The weather wasn’t the best it has been for this event, but mostly the rain held off and allowed the players to show off their skills to parents and other supporters.
Every player competed in at least 6 Skills Competitions, including Pitch, Hit and Run events, as well as Fastest Pitch, Long Ball Derby and Stealing Challenge. There was also a team competition which took into account the results of every player on every team. A full list of all the medalists will follow in another post.
An event like this only happens if many, many people step forward to volunteer, so a big, big thanks goes out to the parents who stepped up to make the day a success. Thanks of course start with the coaches, who already give so much time and gave even more on the day. Many parents stepped forward to do a great job running the many events. Other parents were wonderful as they helped with the BBQ and Food tables. And many other people just filled in wherever help was needed.
Special thanks goes out to Linda Kliewer, Sarah Boulanger and Alex Sexton for a ton of work organizing and running the BBQ. Thanks as well to Cam Friesen for the sound system, and Shaun Fulton for bringing the big trailer BBQ. Thanks to Save-On for a donation. And massive thanks go to Maryjane Sexton and Ava Clark for tireless work behind the scenes.
We hope the players had fun and enjoyed showing off their skills on this wonderful day of baseball.
