Mini Mosquito Angels Over Cloverdale Red Spurs
The Mini Mosquito team recorded their first win of the season against a strong Cloverdale Red Spurs. It was a great game by the Angels with lots of hits and good defensive plays. The Angels were down 7-0 after 3 innings despite great pitching performances by Aidan Beck and Fraser McKimmon in the first 2 innings. In the 4th inning things started to turn around for the Angels. With Zack Bos on the mound throwing only 14 pitches and Kyle Kobes with 2 put outs at 2nd base the Angels held the Spurs to no runs and in the bottom of the inning the Angels bats started to come alive. The Angels scored 3 runs in the 4th inning 2 RBI’s coming of the bat of Cohen Poulin who hit the ball over the center fielders head for a triple. The Spurs failed to score in the 5th inning as well as Ryan Ortis had 2 big strikeouts and a ground ball for the easy throw to 1st to end the inning. In the bottom of the 5th the Angels continued right where they left off in the 4th inning with Fraser McKimmon leading off the inning with a single followed by an RBI triple from Ortis to score McKimmon. Aidan Beck then delivered his first hit of the season to score Ortis from 3. Zack Bos got hit by the pitch to advance to 1st followed by a Nicholas Westendorp single. This set the table for Kyle Kobes hitting in the 3 spot and Kyle delivered hitting a huge shot over the centre fielder’s head and scoring Bos and Westendorp to win the game. The Angels win in the bottom of the 5th on the walk off triple from Kobes.
