Midget AA Championship
The Abbotsford Red AA Midget team had an exciting finish to their season winning the top-tier Midget AA Championship against the Mission Twins 11-7. Early in the game it was close with Abbotsford down 2-1, but with the bases loaded Alex Johnston hit a grand slam home run. From there Abbotsford continued to build the lead. Jaden Ostrom pitched a solid 5 innings with Reiya Kobayashi and Kiefer Waldenberger as relievers to close the game.
Although Abbotsford Red lost their first playoff game, they showed resiliency and determination winning the next five games in a row and finishing with the championship.
For the third year players it was a sweet way to end their Midget career. Congratulations to all the players and parents. A special thank you to Jon Koetsier and Mark Schweinbenz for assistant coaching.
It was a memorable season and I wish you all continued success.
