Expos: April Report
The Expos have been enjoying a great start to the 2015 Mosquito Season. This group of boys has started to come together as a team and are having a lot of fun working hard at getting better individually and as a group. The Coaching staff are really enjoying this group and look forward to continuing to help this team develop and grow as the season continues.
At the plate the team has been led by Hunter McLeod, the big 2nd Year Lefty, who has been hitting the ball hard. David Krahn has also been rounding into form lately and is a threat at the dish. In fact, the team has also had contributions from throughout the lineup, as the players work at getting to be better hitters.
In the field the Expos have started to make some progress. With an emphasis on being prepared every pitch, cutting down on mental errors and getting the ball in quickly from the outfield, the team has shown improvement. All players have had regular turns in both the infield and the outfield and are getting experience in a number of positions every game. Both Jayden Wells and Chase Dempsey have shown steady improvement in the infield.
It has been on the mound that the Expos have really seen a full team effort. Most the team has had a chance to pitch already. Seven players have made multiple appearances on the hill. The Expos have been led by 1st Year Pitchers Ronan Sexton and Jimmy Boulanger, but it is the depth of the Expos on the bump that has been the most encouraging part of their play so far this season. Logan Clark and Levi Kliewer have contributed strong innings on the hill.
Another encouraging sign has been the development of the less experienced players. In particular, brand new baseball players Herbie Parmar and Jahvon Maksymiw have been having fantastic rookie seasons. Both have brought great attitudes and have demonstrated enthusiasm and a desire to learn. Enthusiasm and fun are certainly what Jarek Sloboda always brings to the park as well.
The schedule looks to be tough coming up, with games ahead against some of the other teams at the top of the table, including the Dodgers, the Pirates and the Yankees. The Expos are looking forward to the challenges ahead!
