Changes for the AAHA
Nobody likes meetings, but the AGM of the AAHA, coming up on the 29th, is a meeting you should not miss.
The coming AGM will be a time for some vital decisions to be made by the members of the AAHA. Many months of debate and work have resulted in proposed changes to the Constitution of the Association, as well as a reorganization of the leadership structure. Members are asked to consider the proposed changes. Contact current members of the Executive with any questions or comments. Ultimately members are asked to ratify the proposed changes at the AGM, 6;30 PM on February 29th at Ag-Rec.
The proposal for reorganization of leadership has two main goals. The first and most important goal is to expand the structure and scope of leadership opportunities, bringing in more people while spreading the work around so that the responsibilities of people are reduced: More gets done but each individual shouldn’t have to do as much! This should lead to more stakeholders in the association having the opportunity to share in the decision-making and day-to-day business of running a youth sports organization without overwhelming or intimidating time commitments. These positions are unelected and we welcome new people with a willingness to get involved. Contact members of the current Executive for more information.
The second goal is to reduce the number of people who need to commit to regular meetings of the elected Executive, which should streamline decision-making for the Board. The positions will be elected at the AGM. Nominations for election to Executive Board of Directors are due no later than Thursday, February 25.
