Angels to Kelowna for 11U AAA Provincials
The Abbotsford Angels are headed to Kelowna for the 11U Mosquito AAA Provincial Championships. The boys go in as the Lower Mainland top seed after a perfect 10-0 qualifying season. Overall the team is 20-2, with a Gold Medal from the Boulanger Tournament and a Silver from the Can-Am Midsummer Classic. The same 12 boys are back from the 10U A team last summer, when the team was unbeaten all summer– until the Final of the Provincials.
The Angels open up the 2016 Provincial Championships with games against the Ridge Meadows Royals and the Nanaimo Pirates on Friday, followed by tilts with the Chilliwack Cougars and Kamloops River Dogs on Saturday. All of these opponents are dangerous and it will be challenge for the boys to earn their way to Sunday’s playoff games. If they get there they will have to face the teams that emerge from Pool B, including the hosts from Kelowna; Prince George; the White Rock Tritons, who are on a roll; the always dangerous Cloverdale Spurs; the team that dashed their hopes last year, the Victoria Eagles.
