AGM Marks the Start of a New Era for the AAHA
A big thanks goes out to all the parents who made it out for the AGM on Monday night. It was by far the most well attended AGM in years (certainly it was the biggest crowd in the 10 years this writer has been involved in the AAHA.)
The proceedings began with the usual business of an Annual General Meeting. However, this AGM, scheduled less than 6 months after the previous one, was specially convened for the purpose of dealing with some major changes. The outgoing Executive presented proposals for amendments to the Constitution, and a revamping of the leadership structure of the AAHA. The membership ratified the changes and elected the new Board of Directors to begin a new era for Abbotsford Angels.
Under the new provisions adopted, the AAHA takes on two tiered leadership structure.
The following members were elected to the 2016 Board of Directors:
- Dan Dick, President
- Steve Coleman, 1st Vice President
- Todd Boulanger, 2nd Vice President
- Ernie Wiens, Treasurer
- Sherri Draayers, Secretary
- Colin Sexton, Director
- Richard Rabinovitch, Director
- Brian Krahn, Director
- Rob Taylor Director
The Board of Directors will meet monthly to set the overall direction for the AAHA. The next tier of leadership will include the appointed Officers, Managers, Commissioners and Committee Chairs who will oversee the “day to day” work of running a youth baseball organization.
- Mike Pratt, Umpire-in-Chief
- Jenn Riou, Registrar
- Todd Boulanger, Coaching Development Officer
- Jason Dobson, Equipment Manager
- Brian Krahn, Fields Manager
- Lorisa Janzen, Uniforms Manager
- Jodi Wiens, Accounting & Gaming Application Chair
- Dawn Krahn, Sponsorship Committee Chair
- Tim Hall, Challenger Baseball Commissioner
- Richard Rabinovitch, 18U Midget Commissioner
- Jess Peters, 15U Bantam Commissioner
- Rob Taylor, 13U Peewee Commissioner
- Colin Sexton, 11U Mosquito Commissioner
- Steve Coleman, 9U Tadpole Commissioner
- Derek Giesbrecht, 7U T-Ball Commissioner
We are fortunate to retain the volunteer services of almost all of the outgoing Executive who are taking the lead in this new tier of leadership in the Association. In the coming weeks we will look to add more people to fill out this list, and to take over the many tasks that happen behind the scenes in any successful youth sports association. If you are interested, we could use your help in any of the areas listed above. We are also looking for people to help out in the following areas:
- Political Action Committee
- Tournaments & Bookings
- Safety Committee
- Business Development Committee
So coming to the AGM was a great first step! Now we need you to take the next step. Please get in touch with us to find out more about how you can be a part of this. Go here for a full list of contact information.
