Szmutko Goes Yard As Angels Dismantle Dodgers
Another solid performance by the Abby Peewee Angels contributed to their league leading 5-0 record in the provincial qualification round as they engineered a well rounded 14-1 defeat of the Aldergrove Dodgers. Pitching and defense ruled the day as Max Masztalar kept the Dodgers off the scoreboard with a strong 4 and 2/3 innings of work. Kole Jessamine was equally effective in shutting down the opposition the rest of the way. Defensively key plays included a diving right field catch by Marshall Bilinski and solid infield play by Hunter Klassen and Cameron Evans. At the plate, Evans and Luke Szmutko led the way with three hits each including another over the fence homer by Szmutko. Jessamine, Masztalar and Bilinski each contributed two hits as well yet it was two key doubles by Riley Hall and Brady Rempel that broke the game wide open during the middle innings. Brayden Krahn and Jadon Ostrom and Klassen also hit the ball well as the entire batting order contributed to the win.
