Black Comeback
Peewee AA
Abby Black 7
Abby Red 6
Report: Near perfect weather welcomed both AAHA Peewee AA teams to Berry Park for the local derby. The Black squad started well, filling the bases and scoring two runs, including a solo home run from Kayden Cardoso. Red answered back right away with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the 1st inning. From there, the Abby Red team slowly built a 6-2 lead. There was no quit in Abby Black though. They stuck with it and were rewarded in dramatic fashion when Brett Bass hit a game-tying Grand Slam. The game went into extra innings and Black scored the only run to take the game 7-6. Kayden Cardoso, Brett Bass, Kevin Kim and Travis Macdougal pitched for Abby Black, while Parker Wakelyn, Noah Nickel and Kyle Stewart pitched for Abby Red. There were many pivotal moments in the game, including a blast off the bat of Kayden Beauregard, who was waved home in an attempt to stretch a Triple into a Homer only to be called out at the plate after some good defence from Black. More than once the Black defence tagged out runners when Red threatened to score. It was an exciting game and showcased the depth of talent the AAHA has at the Peewee level.
