PeeWee AAA Win Western Gold!

The PeeWee AAA team travelled to Brandon, Manitoba this weekend to compete as  Team BC2 after finishing second in the provincial championships two weeks ago.  They upgraded to gold, defeating host Brandon, 13-11 in Sunday's Western Canadian final.  The team was a perfect 4-0 through round robin play and faced Maple Ridge in the semi-final game, a rematch from the provincial tournament final.  Abby pulled out a 5-2 victory to avenge their earlier loss and earn a spot in the Western final.  In the gold medal game, Abby, down 9-4 after the top of the fifth, rallied with eight runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 12-9 lead.  They added an insurance run in the the sixth and held off a seventh inning rally by Brandon to win 13-11.  Congratulations to our Abby boys and their 6 pickups on a great win.

This past weekend Abbotsford Baseball's Mosquito A team, made up of all first year Mosquito players captured gold at the provincial championships in North Delta.  The team went into the tournament as one of the favourites, going undefeated through the summer league play.  They continued their dominance through round robin play in the tournament beating Nanaimo, Vernon, Richmond, and North Delta, outscoring their opponents a combined 58-17.  The Angels faced Ladner in the semi-final on Sunday morning and again came out with hot bats and won 10-4.  The final game vs Cloverdale was a 7-0 shut out to earn gold.  Congratulations to the coaching staff and the entire team for an outstanding summer and a well deserved provincial gold medal.

PeeWee AAA Earn Silver...Trip To Westerns

Abbotsford's PeeWee AAA team fell 12-6 to Ridge Meadows in the final of the provincial championships in Kamloops.  After spotting Ridge and 11-0 lead after their first at bat, Abby was unable to work their way back.  The team had a great tournament, going 3-1 in round robin play and knocking off Cloverdale in the semi-final.  The team travels to Brandon, Manitoba to represent BC in the Western Canadians August 20-23.  Congrats and good luck.

Bantam AAA Hurt By Injuries

The Bantam AAA team entered this year's provincial tournament a little worse for wear.  A pulled groin, a dislocated rib, and a broken thumb added up to a depleted line up and a tall mountain to climb.  The team battled in every game, but was unable to get a win in the round robin as the bats went silent on day one with the team losing to Victoria Sr and Richmond.  The Angels matched up against Vancouver on day 2 and despite better hitting and a lot more fight, lost the game 6-3 to be eliminated from advancing.  Today's mean nothing game was cancelled due to rain, bringing a close to the AAA season.  Congrats to the players and coaches for a great year.

Mosquito AAA Settle For Silver

The Mosquito AAA Tier 1 team entered the provincial tournament with a real shot at gold, but ran into this year's powerhouse, Cloverdale in the final game of the tournament.  The Angels went undefeated through round robin play and won a lopsided semi-final to advance.  The team had lost all three previous meetings with the Spurs from Cloverdale and were unable to break the streak in the final, losing 6-0.  Cogratulations on a great summer and a silver medal.

Bantam AA Just Miss Final Game

After qualifying for the provincials on the final day of the summer season, not much was expected of the Bantam AA Angels in the provincials.  After day two the team was 1-1 with a 7-4 win over Newton and a 7-6 loss to Prince George. Faced with a must win scenario, Abbotsford won their final two round robin games, beating White Rock 6-4 and Aldergrove 11-8 to advance to the semi-final.  There they faced Victoria and lost 12-6 to miss the final game.  Congrats to the players and coaches for a great summer.
